CHICAGO — The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is offering 30 grants for travel to its 2019 National Conference & Exhibition. The conference will be held Nov. 14-16, 2019, in Louisville, Kentucky. Full conference details can be found at national.aasl.org.

The $750 grants for first-time attendees of the conference are sponsored by Bound To Stay Bound Books. Those interested in applying can access the application at www.ala.org/aasl/btsb_grants. The deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. Central time on Fri., Feb. 1, 2019. Late applications will not be considered.

"I attended my first AASL conference in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1994," said AASL President Kathryn Roots Lewis. “I was simply amazed by the experience. There were people everywhere who did what I did, cared about what I cared about and were passionate and excited about what I was-literally a festival of deep thinkers, readers, inquirers, collaborators, and explorers! The AASL National Conference is a way to connect with authors, visionaries, thought leaders, vendors, and each other.”

“At Bound To Stay Bound we recognize the value of the professional school librarian in our schools and take pride in being able to offer these grants to help further their knowledge and give them an opportunity to share their experiences with other professionals,” said Bob Sibert of Bound To Stay Bound Books.

“Thank you Bound To Stay Bound for providing opportunities for thirty first-time attendees to experience the same feelings I had almost twenty-five years ago,” said Lewis. “BTSB's generous support provides professional learning for our colleagues and allows them to join us while we learn more about the National School Library Standards and more!”

The AASL National Conference & Exhibition is the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. The 2019 conference, taking place Nov. 14-16, in Louisville, Kentucky, will feature preconference workshops, concurrent sessions, and an exhibition featuring companies relevant to the profession. Those communicating about the national conference are encouraged to use the official hashtag, #aasl19.
