Concluding the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) is proud to sponsor six scholarship recipients to attend this week's LITA Forum in Denver, Colorado:

  • Nicholas Agaba – Electronic Resource Librarian at Kampala International University-Uganda
  • Giao Luong Baker, Student at the University of North Texas Department of Information Science
  • Yi Ding, Student at the University of California-Los Angeles Graduate School of Library & Information Science
  • Soo-yeon Hwang, Web Services Librarian at Sam Houston State University
  • Hannah Rainey –  NCSU Libraries Fellow at North Carolina State University
  • Dejah Rubel – Metadata and Electronic Resource Librarian at Ferris State University

The past year's 50th anniversary celebration included a campaign that raised more than $11,000 to provide professional development scholarships to support our value of diversity and inclusion while investing in the future leaders of LITA. More than 65 individuals helped smash the original goal to raise $10,000. The scholarship money will also fund a second LITA Emerging Leader in 2018.

The LITA Forum is the annual gathering of 300 technology-minded information professionals where technology meets the practicality of daily information operations in archives, libraries, and other information services. This year's program offers more than 50 sessions, 15 poster sessions, and a thought-provoking round of 5-minute lightning talks. This year's keynote speakers are Casey Fiesler, assistant professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Dr. Vivienne Ming, a theoretical neuroscientist, technologist and entrepreneur named one of 10 Women to Watch in Tech by Inc. Magazine.
