Danielle Jones elected 2026-2027 vice-president/president-elect of the upcoming reunified ALSC/YALSA division

Danielle Jones (she/they), Youth Development Manager, Multnomah County Library, Portland, Oregon, has been elected vice president/president-elect of the upcoming reunified division of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), which will be effective September 1, 2026. She will begin her term as president-elect in July 2026 and assume the presidency in July 2027 for a one-year term.

"I am honored and grateful to our members for their trust and the opportunity to serve as Vice President/President Elect at this pivotal time during the reunification of ALSC and YALSA,” Jones said. "I am excited to work alongside members and stakeholders through collaboration as we work together to advance and combine ALSC’s and YALSA’s missions to serve children, teens, families, and those who serve them.”

Jones is a member of ALSC, YALSA, Public Library Association, Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table, Ethnic & Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table and Rainbow Round Table. They are currently serving on the ALSC Board of Directors (2023-2026), and have been active on many committees, including YALSA Regina U. Minudri Young Adult Scholarship Jury (2024), YALSA Hub Advisory Board (2022-2024), ALSC Budget Committee (2022-2023) and ALSC Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within ALSC Task Force (2018-2023), among numerous others. Jones has also been active in the Oregon Library Association (OLA), serving on its EDI Task Force (2020-2021) and OLA Board (2016-2019), among other positions.

She is the 2019 recipient of the Oregon Young Adult OYEA Award for her positive and significant contribution to teens in libraries in the state of Oregon. They also received the YALSA Writing Award in 2017.

Jones participated in the IMLS-funded YALSA Transforming Teen Services Train the Trainer project. As Oregon’s frontline services trainer, they supported library staff across the state in implementing YALSA’s techniques prioritizing teens to improve engagement and outcomes for youth in their communities, fostering service for and with teens.

Four members were elected to serve on the ALSC Board of Directors: Heather Beverley, Cook Memorial Public Library, Lake Villa, Illinois, director-at-large; Deadra Brown, Haverford College, Pennsylvania, director-at-large; Kirby McCurtis, Multnomah County Library, Portland, Oregon, division councilor; and Renee Ting, Mountain View Public Library, California, director-at-large. Their terms also begin July 2026.
