ALSC releases 2026 Summer Reading Lists

CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has released its 2026 Summer Reading Lists, filled with engaging book titles and recommended digital media options to keep children reading and exploring all summer long.

Titles are organized into four separate lists by age range: birth-preschool, K-2nd grade, 3rd–5th grades and 6th-8th grades and are free to download from the ALSC website. Featured books and media span many topics and genres to appeal to a wide range of reader preferences and interests.

The Summer Reading Lists were compiled and annotated by ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting committee. Libraries, daycares and other organizations working with youth are encouraged to copy and share these recommended reads with patrons, students and community partners to help kindle a love of reading and life-long learning in young people.
