Core Classroom: Project Management for Library Professionals
CHICAGO—Join Core from October 9 to November 13, 2025, for the Core Classroom “Project Management for Library Professionals.” From new programs and technology initiatives to events and renovations, library professionals can apply the best practices of project management to plan for and deliver more successful projects. Attendees will be introduced to the basic principles of project management and presented with strategies to rally stakeholders, encourage project momentum, and triumph over common project challenges. Learn how to apply five key elements of project management to create an actionable project plan, including identifying the project’s lifecycle and key stakeholders, drafting a project scope and schedule, defining project deliverables and quality measures, and preparing for project justifications and communications. We’ll anticipate project challenges and discuss strategies for improving the success of our projects.
Project Management for Library Professionals
Start/End Dates: October 9 to November 13, 2025
Format
5-week virtual workshop that consists of three live virtual group discussions and activities to do on your own throughout each week. Students have 24/7 access to the class site for the duration of the class, and aside from assignment deadlines, the work can be completed at their convenience.
Requirements
A computer with Internet access is required. A high-speed connection and headphones are recommended. No experience is necessary; beginners from any background are welcome.
