Registration opens for National Voter Registration Day 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Library Association (ALA) encourages libraries to register for National Voter Registration Day 2025, a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating the fundamental right and responsibility of American citizenship. This year’s observation takes place on September 16, 2025.
Every year is an election year. As a longtime partner of NonprofitVOTE and National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), ALA is proud to shine a spotlight on the critical role of libraries across the country in getting communities Reader Voter Ready and helping individuals make their voices heard in local, state, and federal elections.
Libraries that join NVRD as community partners will receive guidance, promotional materials, and access to online learning opportunities to support voter registration and education activities. Community partners agree to be nonpartisan, inclusive, and aware of their state’s voter registration laws.
In addition to NVRD, ALA is pleased to partner with the suite of civic holidays, including National Voter Education Week, October 6-10, and Vote Early Day, taking place on October 28 this year.
