Valerie Tagoe Elected YALSA President-Elect

CHICAGO — Valerie Tagoe, Media Specialist, Woodrow Wilson High School, Dallas, Texas has been elected as YALSA’s 2025 division president-elect. Tagoe will begin her three-year term as president-elect in July of 2025, becoming president starting in July of 2026, and remain active on the board for one year as past president in 2027.

“I would like to thank the members who voted in the election,” says Tagoe. “As President-Elect, I look forward to working with the board in the years to come to ensure that YALSA continues to serve its members and provide them with the resources and information they need to serve teens across the country and internationally.”

Highlights of Tagoe’s involvement in YALSA include:

  • Serving as the editor for The Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults
  • Serving as a Director on YALSA’s Board
  • Serving as the chair of the Organization & Bylaws Committee

In addition to the president-elect position, YALSA members have also elected Caroline Aversano as Fiscal Officer, Heather Beverley as Secretary, and Julia E. Torres and Robin Fogle Kurz, Ph.D. to the Board of Directors. All three positions will serve three-year terms.
