Public Libraries magazine announces 2024 Feature Article Contest winners

CHICAGO—Public Libraries, the official magazine of the Public Library Association (PLA), is pleased to announce the recipients of the Feature Article Contest for articles published in the 2024 volume year.

One prize was awarded to Arnessa Dowell, Library Director at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, for her article “The AI Advantage: Strategies for Library Leadership in the Digital Age,” which was published in the May/June 2024 issue of Public Libraries.

The other prize was awarded to authors Tajuana Fulton, Branch Manager, Memphis Public Libraries, and Monique Williams, Collection Development Manager, Memphis Public Libraries, for their feature article, “African American Is Not a Genre,” which was published in the July/August 2024 issue.

All feature articles written by public library workers and published in 2024 by the magazine were evaluated. Winners were chosen by members of the Public Libraries Advisory Committee.
