Announcing the 2024 Core Election Results

CHICAGO—Kevin A.R. King, Director of East Lansing Public Library, has been elected President-Elect of Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures, a Division of the American Library Association. His three-year term begins at the conclusion of the 2024 ALA Annual Conference and ends at the conclusion of the 2025 ALA Annual Conference. He will serve one year each as President-Elect, President and Immediate Past-President. King is currently serving as a Director-at-Large on the Core Board of Directors.

In discussing his vision for Core, King said, "I am humbled and honored to have been elected President-Elect of the coolest and most forward-thinking division in ALA! Many thanks to all who voted for me and especially for Don Allgeier who is an outstanding member of Core. My promise to all current and future Core members is that I will work hard to promote the values, innovation, and leadership that make up the Core division.”

Core members also elected two new Directors-at-Large to the Board. Each will serve a three-year term from 2024-27. Elected are:

  • Cara Calabrese, Acquisitions & Access Librarian at Miami University
  • Amy Swartz, Head of Library Technology at Columbia Law School

In addition, Core members elected Emily Fidelman, Head of Metadata Services at West Virginia University, as Metadata and Collections Section Chair. Emily will serve a one-year term that begins at the conclusion of the 2024 ALA Annual Conference and ends at the conclusion of the 2025 ALA Annual Conference.

Core also thanks the members of this year’s Nominating Committee: Lindsay Anne Cronk, Chair; Brett Bonfield, Aimee Fifarek, Linda A. Kopecky, Nancy Mocsiran, and Harriet Wintermute.
