Celebrate excellence in adult reading and reference at RUSA Midwinter Book and Media Awards Reception
CHICAGO — All ALA Midwinter Meeting participants are invited to celebrate the winners of numerous adult reading and reference awards and build their 2013 to-be-read lists at the Reference and User Services Association’s (RUSA) upcoming Midwinter Book and Media Awards Reception.
In addition to The Reading List, Notable Books and Listen List selections—lists that are used by readers' advisory librarians nationwide—the event will also reveal this year’s winners of the Dartmouth Medal, the Sophie Brody Medal, the Zora Neale Hurston Award, the Louis Shores/ABC-CLIO Award and other professional resource lists, including Outstanding Reference Sources, Outstanding Business Reference Sources and “Best of the Best” Business Websites.
The reception will be held from 5-6:30p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27 in the Municipal Room of the Renaissance Seattle, 515 Madison St., and will offer food and a cash bar. For those who cannot attend, information about this year’s winners will be posted on the RUSA blog and tweeted via @ala_rusa during and immediately after the event using the hashtag #literarytastes.
The literary winners announced at this event will shape the author lineup for the Literary Tastes program at ALA’s 2013 Annual Conference in Chicago. Immediately following the meal, authors will be available for book signings and further discussion of their work. More information about the award winners and the Literary Tastes Breakfast will be available on the RUSA website and the RUSA blog following the January event.
