Brown, Nelson to take part in Caldecott 75th Anniversary Facebook Forums

CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is excited to announce two more 75th Caldecott Facebook Forums. In March, ALSC will host Peter Brown and in April, Kadir Nelson will be the guest.

Peter Brown will participate in a Caldecott 75th Anniversary Facebook Forum at 1 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, March 28, 2013. In June, Brown will be awarded a 2013 Caldecott Honor as the illustrator for "Creepy Carrots!," written by Aaron Reynolds (Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers).

Kadir Nelson will participate in a Caldecott 75th Anniversary Facebook Forum on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Noon Eastern. Nelson has been awarded a Caldecott Honor twice, in 2008 for his illustration of "Henry's Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad," written by Ellen Levine and in 2007 for illustration of "Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom," written by Carole Boston Weatherford (Hyperion/Jump at the Sun).

As part of the Forum, ALSC will interview Brown and Nelson about their Caldecott experiences. This event is open to the public and a Facebook account is not required to view the event. Participants can access the forum via the ALSC Facebook page.

The 75th Caldecott Facebook Forums are part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Caldecott Medal. Throughout 2012 and into 2013, ALSC has many special Caldecott-related events and activities planned, in person, online and in print, to make it possible for all individuals to be involved in the celebration.
