ALTAFF and Algonquin Books to sponsor "From Writer to Reader" panel at BookExpo America

PHILADELPHIA – The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), together with Algonquin Books, will sponsor “From Writer to Reader,” a panel featuring author Naomi Benaron and her editor Kathy Pories, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 at BookExpo America in New York.

Join new Bellwether Prize-winner Naomi Benaron, author of "Running the Rift," along with Kathy Pories, editor at Algonquin, and Michael Taeckens, online and paperback marketing director at Algonquin, as they and others discuss the process of writing, editing and publishing a prize-winning novel. Kathy Pories is the editor of two previous Bellwether Prize-winning novels – Heidi Durrow’s "The Girl Who Fell from the Sky" and Hillary Jordan’s "Mudbound," also published by Algonquin Books. The Bellwether Prize, founded by Barbara Kingsolver, is awarded biennially to a debut novel that addresses issues of social justice. Nora Rawlinson, co-founder and editor of, will moderate the panel. A book signing will follow. The event will take place at BookExpo America in the Jacob K. Javits Center, Room 1E16.
