ALA, ALTAFF announce new Joint Trustee Membership program with chapters
Following up on the success of joint membership programs for library students and support staff, the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF) announce a new Joint Trustee Membership program with ALA Chapters.
Trustees new to ALA and the Chapter can join three great organizations for only $100, a 30 percent discount. Five ALA Chapters have already signed up to participate: Arkansas Library Association, California Library Association, Massachusetts Library Association, New York Library Association, and South Carolina Library Association.
“Trustees are critical for the support of today's libraries,” says ALTAFF Executive Director Sally Gardner Reed. “Going far beyond the setting of policy, they are perfectly poised to ensure that the library is seen as essential community services by those who fund them. With membership in both the state and national associations, every Trustee can join his or her voice to the chorus demanding that libraries be fully funded at the local and state levels and receive the support and learning tools they need to be effective at doing so.”
“The collaboration between the ALA and Chapters is another way to support members and better serve the profession at all levels,” says Ron Jankowski, ALA Membership Development Director.
To make it easier for Trustees, and all joint members to belong, ALA has created new online forms for all joint memberships.
