Langella to receive 2017 National Library Legislative Day Stipend

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), has chosen Peter Langella as a third recipient for its National Library Legislative Day (NLLD) Stipend in light of recent events regarding the ambiguous future of federal library funding.

The stipend, worth up to $1,000 and funded by Friends of YALSA, will allow Langella to attend National Library Legislative Day, which takes place May 1-2, 2017 in Washington, D.C. to help advocate for teens and libraries.

Langella is a librarian at Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, VT, and an adjunct instructor of English at Johnson State College in Johnson. He is a member of ALA, AASL, YALSA, and the Vermont School Library Association.

“I'm very grateful for this opportunity to learn from the leaders of the national library conversation,” said Langella. “It is my hope to come away with strategies to help school and public libraries create a more unified voice in our advocacy efforts.”
