Enter YALSA’s Teens Succeed with Libraries Video Contest

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) invites library staff and teens to submit creative and compelling videos for its Teens Succeed with Libraries Video Contest.

The contest is open to library staff and the teens they serve. YALSA is looking for creative video entries that compellingly demonstrate how teens make use of library services, programs and staff in order to succeed in school and prepare for college, careers and life. Examples of content may include, but are not limited to: showing how teens use libraries to get good grades, explore careers, pursue hobbies, plan for college, build digital skills, serve the community, become engaged citizens, connect with others, create, and more.

Videos must be uploaded to YouTube by May 1, 2016. Winners will be announced no later than June 1, 2016. The top three entries will receive a box of books, audiobooks and graphic novels worth a minimum of $200.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

• All music, images, art, animation, and video clips integrated into the video must be legally licensed either by obtaining the copyright holder’s permission, using materials licensed through Creative Commons licensing, or using entirely original content
• Videos may not be more than 1 minute in length
• Entries must be uploaded to YouTube no later than midnight, eastern, on May 1, 2016, and include the #act4teens hashtag
• Teen contestants must be 13 or older to register for YouTube and must have permission of a parent or guardian
