Organization and Personnel Administration eCourse Starting Soon

CHICAGO — The ALA Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR) is offering a six-week Organization and Personnel Administration course. The online asynchronous sessions will be available on six sequential Mondays from Jan. 4, – Feb. 12, 2016. The cost of the course is $300. REGISTER now, as the class will be starting soon.

Someone once said managers solve today’s problems, administrators solve tomorrow’s. Whether you are new to an administrative position or you aspire to obtain one, this course will prepare you for the wide-ranging privileges and responsibilities of top level leadership. How you lead people is key to your success. With structure supporting you and the goal of a successful team guiding you, you can master Organization and Personnel Administration.

Course topics will include: understanding funding and budgeting; evaluating staffing needs; recruiting, interviewing and hiring; supervising, motivating and developing staff; evaluating performance; identifying training needs; terminating staff; and evaluating the effectiveness of the organizational structure and its policies.

The instructor, Catherine Hakala-Ausperk, has worked in libraries for more than 30 years. She is the author of "Be a Great Boss: One Year to Success, Build a Great Team: One Year to Success" and the presenter of Supervise with Success: A Two-Part Webinar Series (all available on the ALA Store website).
