Free access to Booklist’s first-ever digital edition

CHICAGO — To celebrate the publication of its first digital edition, Booklist will offer open access to its Oct. 15 issue Spotlight on First Novels for a limited time. Both subscribers and non-subscribers will have the opportunity to read the full text of hundreds of Booklist reviews and features for free.

Subscribers already have access to 22 Booklist and four Book Links print magazines, as well as Booklist Online, an online database of reviews and features. The digital edition format will offer readers a page-by-page reproduction of both print magazines with the added convenience of online access.

Booklist and Book Links have many kinds of readers who use and access our content differently depending on their job responsibilities and work environment, and we’re excited to now offer them multiple reading experiences to suit their needs,” said Bill Ott, Booklist editor and publisher. “We think all three—print, online, and digital—will be used as people continue to write in the margins of their print copies, look up Top 10 lists and run advanced searches on Booklist Online, and read the digital edition while they commute or wait on their print copy to arrive in the mail.”

Another feature Ott anticipates subscribers enjoying is access to past issues of the digital edition, which will serve as an issue-by-issue archive. “Booklist Online is a fantastic database with powerful search tools, but the digital edition archive will allow for easy browsing and skimming of an issue’s contents.

The Nov. 1 digital edition will be the first to feature Book Links, the quarterly supplement of Booklist. Find out more about accessing the digital edition or subscribing to Booklist.
