United for Libraries to present ‘Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations’ at Midwinter
PHILADELPHIA – United for Libraries will host “Nuts & Bolts for Trustees, Friends and Foundations” from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at McCormick Place West, W185bc during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Chicago.
The popular Nuts & Bolts program will feature speakers addressing topics of interest to Trustees, Friends, Foundations and advocates (download the agenda PDF, 105 kb). Those planning to attend the Nuts & Bolts program at the ALA Midwinter Meeting should RSVP to united@ala.org. Speakers include:
- Donor Relationships: Stewardship & Communication: Catherine Brown, chief operating officer and Veronica Brown, director of individual giving and communications, Chicago Public Library Foundation.
- Donor and Board Member Development: Paula Beswick; foundation director, Bozeman (Montana) Library Foundation.
- How to Book an Author at Your Library: Virginia Stanley, director; academic and library Marketing, HarperCollins and Erica Melnichok, library marketing manager; Penguin Random House.
- Grassroots Advocacy - Working with your State Elected Officials: Kip Kolkmeier, Illinois Library Association legislative consultant.
Roundtable discussions will be held on fundraising, marketing, social media, book sales, the role of Trustees and more.
