Tweet to win tickets to United for Libraries’ ‘The Laugh’s On Us,' sponsored by SAGE

PHILADELPHIA — In their daily interactions with students, researchers and library patrons of all stripes, librarians are bound to hear (and overhear) humorous remarks that provide comic relief all the time.

Librarians are invited to share the words that that have caused them to smile, stifle a giggle or ROFL between the stacks – and earn a chance for further hilarity by entering to win two tickets to the “The Laugh’s on Us, Sponsored by SAGE,” a United for Libraries event.

Taking place at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 in the Versailles Ballroom at the Paris in Las Vegas, “The Laugh’s on Us” is headlined by Paula Poundstone, acclaimed standup comic known for her spontaneous observational comedy. This year’s event also features Anthony Breznican, Stephanie Evanovich, Eric Kaplan and Issa Rae. Wine and cheese will be served and a book signing with the comedians will follow.

To enter, tweet an answer to the following question using the hashtag #librarylaughs:

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a library patron say?

Organized by SAGE, the contest opens Tuesday, June 3, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, June 13. The winner will be chosen based on originality, clarity in conveying the remark in 140 characters or less and, of course, comedic appeal.

All entrants must use the hashtag #librarylaughs to enter and must be attending the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 29. While we invite entrants to share as many comical comments as they wish, only the first entry per Twitter account will be considered. For details and to read the complete official rules, visit
