Apply for YALSA’s Teens’ Top Ten Book Giveaway

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is encouraging libraries to apply for the Teens’ Top Ten Book Giveaway. Libraries can now apply for the giveaway through Sept. 1. More information about the grant and how to apply can be found at http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teens-top-ten.

Through the generous funding from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, 20 sets of the final 2013 Teens’ Top Ten titles will be given away to libraries in need. Individual library branches within a larger system are welcome to apply. Recipients will be announced during the first week of October.

To be eligible for the giveaway, a library must be in compliance with the ALA’s Library Bill of Rights in its selection of material and be within 20 miles of a Dollar General store. To find out if there is a Dollar General store within 20 miles of your library, use the Dollar General store locator. This giveaway is a member benefit for YALSA members. All criteria must be met in order to be considered for the giveaway.

Upon meeting the eligibility requirements, applicants can then go on to provide their contact information and answers to the application questionnaire. Only completed applications will be considered.

For years, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has provided Youth Literacy Grants to schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations in hopes to provide assistance in implementing and expanding literacy programs for youth.
