Olaf, Percy Jackson and other pals help readers chill with a book this winter

CHICAGO – Temperatures have turned chilly, but the new catalog from ALA Graphics is red hot, filled with new products to keep library patrons excited about reading and learning no matter the weather. Disney’s “Frozen” was a huge hit in theaters, and the new poster and bookmark with Olaf are sure to be blockbusters in libraries. His message that “Reading Is Cool!” will resonate with patrons of all ages.

It’s always fun to read with a pal! In this poster and bookmark, author/illustrator Greg Pizzoli’s characters from “The Watermelon Seed,” which received the 2014 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, huddle around a book. Sure to bring smiles to the faces of tweens is a delightful new illustration by bestselling author and illustrator Raina Telgemeier, inspired by her humorous coming-of-age graphic novel “Smile.”

Reach back to the classics this winter. Encourage students and young patrons to discover mythology and “Greek Out.” This beautiful illustration by John Rocco for Rick Riordan’s "Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods," featured on a new poster and bookmark, features Poseidon, Zeus, Artemis and Athena looming over the adventurous Percy Jackson. And poetry is celebrated with “The Butterfly Poems,” a new poster and bookmark highlighting an excerpt from Newbery Honor Award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson’s latest work, “Brown Girl Dreaming.”

YALSA’s Teen Tech Week is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect opportunity for your library to showcase the great non-print resources and services available to teens and their families. New posters and bookmarks highlighting the topics of makerspace safety, digital citizenship, as well as copyright and fair use are a great addition to Teen Tech Week and can be used to reinforce important messages throughout the year. You’ll also want to get ready for National Library Week, with its theme Unlimited Possibilities @ your library. Showcase how your library offers unlimited possibilities through the new poster, mini poster and bookmark, which are also available as a set.

Welcome readers to your library in many languages at once. A “Welcome” banner, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, poster, and window cling illustrate that the library is truly a place for everyone, while our new multilingual READ products (indoor/outdoor banner, poster and bookmark) sends your message in 22 languages.
