YALSA President-elect Candice Mack chosen as participant in AAJA’s Media Institute
CHICAGO — Candice Mack, YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) President-Elect, has been chosen to participate in the Asian American Journalists Association’s (AAJA) first ever Media Institute.
The Media Institute is a two-day workshop that will take place from Aug. 15-16, 2014 in Washington, D.C. It is aimed at training non-profit professionals in the art of working and presenting themselves with and in the media. Participants will learn about the different ways of presenting themselves through a vast array of media including print, television and digital.
"I'm honored to be selected to receive a W.K. Kellogg Fellowship to attend the AAJA Media Institute," Mack said. “And I am looking forward to learning best practices on how to better spread the word about our associations’ and our members' great work."
Participants will also get a chance to interact with award-winning journalists who will coach them on how to further their interview skills, among other media related skills and tips. Mack is one of 15 chosen participants who will attend the workshop at no cost as a fellowship thanks to a generous grant provided to AAJA from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
