YALSA names 2013 Fabulous Films for Young Adults
SEATTLE– The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), announced its 2013 Fabulous Films for Young Adults list. The list identifies a body of films relating to a theme that will appeal to young adults ages 12-18 and is presented annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting.
The 2013 Fabulous Films for Young Adults offers 25 titles based on the theme “Survival.” The list includes films, both fiction and nonfiction, that showcase characters struggling to survive extreme situations. The complete list, including annotations, can be found at www.ala.org/yalsa/fabfilms.
“The committee strived to select films that would reach a variety of teens,” said Andrea Sowers, committee chair. “Over 60 titles were nominated, and we believe the list best reflects the most outstanding films that support our theme. The committee is especially pleased to have selected titles that will enhance library collections as well as support young adult programming.”
