Atyourlibrary.org celebrates International Games Day @ your library
CHICAGO – In honor of the fifth annual International Games Day @ your library, atyourlibrary.org will celebrate with a game of its own.
Starting on Saturday, Nov. 3, to coincide with International Games Day, atyourlibrary.org will host a gaming- themed scavenger hunt. Questions will promote game-related content that is available on the website.
To play, participants visit atyourlibrary.org to answer a new question each day over a series of five days. Each correct answer will count as an entry in the scavenger hunt. At the end of the week, a winner will be selected at random from all eligible answers to receive a $50 gift certificate to GameStop.
International Games Day @ your library is an annual initiative of the American Library Association to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational and social value of all types of games. In 2011, nearly 28,000 people of all ages participated in gaming events at more than 1,400 registered libraries in the U.S., and 21 international libraries in 14 countries. The ALA anticipates that more than 20,000 people will participate in International Games Day 2012.
Atyourlibrary.org is the Campaign for America’s Libraries’ website for the public, offering resources that everyone can take advantage of at their local library. Content targets teens, parents and kids, seniors, job seekers and many others.
All content on atyourlibrary.org is available though a Creative Commons license, so that librarians can repurpose articles for local publications. New promotions are launched on a regular basis. Librarians interested in staying up to date about promotions, like this one, are encouraged to sign up for the atyourlibrary.org newsletter.
The Campaign for America’s Libraries is ALA’s public awareness campaign that promotes the value of libraries and librarians. Thousands of libraries of all types – across the country and around the globe - use the Campaign’s @ your library® brand. The Campaign is made possible by ALA’s Library Champions, corporations and foundations.
