Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver Introduce 'Ghost Buddy' at ALA Annual Conference
CHICAGO —The unbeatable team of Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver are part of a moveable feast, appearing in a new-format Auditorium Speaker session at 2012 ALA Annual Conference 10:30 - 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25 in Ballroom D/E of the Anaheim (Calif.) Convention Center. From the introductory session, the popular pair will progress to the Exhibit Hall PopTop Stage 11 am-noon for a book signing and refreshments courtesy of Scholastic.
Winkler and Oliver have paired together again to create a hilarious and engaging new series called “Ghost Buddy.” This series for middle school age kids addresses topics such as bullying and living in a blended family. You’ll get to know more about the unlikely friendship between Billy Broccoli, a young boy who just wants to fit in, and Hoover “The Hoove” Porterhouse, his super-cool ghostly roommate. Attendees will get a classroom guide, poster and bookmarks that include activities for Creative Writing, Arts and Crafts, Empathy and Anti-Bullying, Helping Others and Responsibility.
Winkler and Oliver’s previous work together includes the extremely popular Hank Zipzer series. Winkler is involved in children's welfare efforts and is a successful and engaging speaker on the subject of children's literacy and learning. Oliver is the creator of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and an educational specialist who has been writing popular books for children for years. Together, they have delighted crowds at numerous events.
With thanks to Scholastic for providing refreshments at the PopTop Stage for attendees at the book signing after the Auditorium Speaker session.
