Beyond the birds and the bees: what to do when teens talk sex in the library
CHICAGO — Teens often bring their questions about sex — or questions “from a friend” — to trusted staff at the library. But discussing sexuality with teens can be a difficult minefield to navigate. Library staff can find guidance on negotiating this tricky subject by joining mk Eagle for "Beyond the Birds and the Bees: Talking Sex and Sexuality with Teens," YALSA’s July 19 webinar at 2 p.m. EDT. Registration is open at www.ala.org/yalsa/webinars.
Webinar attendees will learn about:
- fiction and nonfiction titles addressing issues of sex and sexuality;
- tactics for approaching conversations about sex and sexuality;
- ways to make the library a safe space for all teens exploring issues of sex and sexuality.
Eagle, a longtime YALSA member, is the author of "Answering Teens’ Tough Questions: A YALSA Guide" from the Teens in the Library series (Neal-Schuman, 2012), and the member manager of YALSABlog.
Register today! Registration costs $29 for students, $39 for individual YALSA members, $49 for all other individuals and $195 for group registrations. YALSA’s group rate applies to a group of people that will watch the webinar together in one location.
