‘Surviving an Information Science Career Crisis’ session in the ALA JobLIST Placement Center during Annual Conference
CHICAGO —In his book, "Recovery, Reframing, and Renewal: Surviving an Information Science Career Crisis in a Time of Change," author Oliver Cutshaw examines the difficulties confronting information professionals who, due to financial downturns, technological change or personal crises, are forced to re-evaluate their career options. During this session at 10:30 a.m. - noon on Saturday, June 23 in the ALA JobLIST Placement Center, Cutshaw will give a brief presentation based on his book and then open the floor for a lively, interactive discussion.
If you are an information professional anticipating career change or one who has experienced a career downturn, a graduate student who wants a common sense approach to job searching and advice on maintaining psychological well-being during the quest for that hard-to-find first professional job, or a library administrator hoping to help your staff find fulfillment in their jobs or develop career survival skills, this session is the one to attend.
The ALA JobLIST Placement Center will be located in Hall A of the Anaheim Convention Center. There will also be other sessions held here as well as career counseling, resume review assistance, an Employer’s Open House on Sunday, and on-going interviews. The ALA JobLIST Placement Center will be open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and June 24, on both days. All workshops are free and require no registration.
