YALSA opens program proposals for 2013 Annual Conference

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) will accept proposals for programs for the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, June 27-July 2. Proposals may be submitted through May 31 at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/annualproposal13.

YALSA seeks creative, innovative proposals that highlight innovation and best practices in the following topic areas:

  • Young Adult Literature/Readers’ Advisory
  • Advocacy & Activism
  • Programming & Outreach
  • Research & Best Practices
  • Teen Spaces (Physical & Virtual)
  • Youth Participation

Individuals may submit multiple proposals, although no individual will be chosen to present or co-present more than one program. Proposals that are largely sales pitches or that focus on only one particular product will not be accepted. All presenters, moderators, speakers or anyone otherwise affiliated with giving the presentation will be expected to cover their own travel and conference registration costs. Programs need to be 90 minutes in length.

Those who submitted proposals will be notified of their status by July 31, 2012.

For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos and audiobooks for teens.
