Two I Love My Librarian winners recognized as 2012 Movers & Shakers
CHICAGO – Two recent winners of the Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award, for which library users nominate their librarians, have recently received national recognition by their peers.
Paul Clark, 2010 I Love My Librarian winner of the Clay County (Fla.) Library System, and 2011 I Love My Librarian winner Jennifer LaGarde of Myrtle Grove Middle School in Wilmington, N.C., joined the ranks of the more than 550 librarians that have been named Movers & Shakers by Library Journal since 2002.
Clark's I Love My Librarian nomination noted his use of personal vacation time to lobby in Tallahassee for continued state aid for Florida libraries. Over the course of his campaign, he became known as “The Library Guy,” recognized for his ubiquitous presence at the state capitol building, a point also referenced in his Movers & Shakers write up. Clark was also named the 2011 librarian of the year by the Florida Library Association.
LaGarde was noted in her I Love My Librarian nomination for her mastery of digital technology in connecting with teachers and students and for promoting and advocating for her school library and libraries throughout North Carolina. LaGarde is similarly in the Movers & Shakers spotlight for her advocacy for libraries and her digital presence - on her blog, Twitter and webinars.

The Carnegie Corporation of New York/The New York Times I Love My Librarian award will continue in 2012. Nominations will open in June, and are open to librarians working in public, school, college, community college and university libraries.
The award is a collaborative program of Carnegie Corporation of New York, The New York Times and the American Library Association.
