ALTAFF to present ‘With Friends Like These…’ at PLA Conference
PHILADELPHIA – The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), will present “With Friends Like These...” as part of the Public Library Association (PLA) Conference from 2-3:15 p.m. on Friday, March 16 in room 126 A-B at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
These days, libraries need Friends groups more than ever to raise money and to advocate for better funding. Some Friends groups, however, aren’t always easy to work with and many have become dormant over time. Happily, there are many success stories about turning Friends groups around. A panel of librarians and a leaders from a successful Friends group will discuss how to do it right.
Speakers will include Tom Kern, director, Wauconda (Ill.) Area Library; Herbert Landau, director, Lancaster (Pa.) Public Library; Pat Ditzer, executive board member, Friends of the Lancaster (Pa.) Library, and Edward Elsner, librarian, Oswego (N.Y.) Public Library.
