Applications for ALTAFF/LexisNexis Outstanding Friend Conference Grant due April 15
PHILADELPHIA – LexisNexis, a Silver Friend corporate sponsor of the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), has announced it will fund an annual grant that will enable a Friends of the Library member to attend the ALA Annual Conference, which will be held this year in Anaheim, Calif., June 21-26.
“In keeping with the LexisNexis commitment to meeting the research needs of librarians and promoting information access to their patrons, we are excited about sponsoring a Friend to attend annual ALA Conference,” says Mary Dilenschneider, director of segment management for LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions.
“Without institutional support, Friends of the Library members are rarely able to afford registration and travel to conferences,” says ALTAFF Executive Director Sally Gardner Reed. “We are very grateful to LexisNexis for making this opportunity possible.”
The ALTAFF/LexisNexis Outstanding Friend Conference Grant will enable a person who is active in his or her local Friends of the Library group to attend the ALA Annual Conference. A grant of $850, plus full Annual Conference registration, will be awarded to the recipient. The winner will be required to write an article chronicling their experience at the conference for The Voice.
The deadline for submitting the application is April 15. The winner will be notified by May 1. For a complete list of requirements and to apply, visit www.ala.org/altaff/grants_awards/friends.
