Outstanding adult reading, reference titles to be celebrated in Dallas

CHICAGO - All ALA Midwinter Meeting attendees--and especially those who love to read--are invited to celebrate the winners of numerous awards, including the Notable Books List, The Reading List and the new Listen List for outstanding audiobook narration, at the Reference and User Services Association’s (RUSA) upcoming Book and Media Awards Reception at the Midwinter Meeting in Dallas.

In addition to The Reading List and Notable Book selections—lists that are used by readers advisory librarians nationwide—winners will also be announced for important reference awards such as the Dartmouth Medal and the Outstanding Reference Sources and outstanding Business Reference Sources list. Also presented at this event are the Sophie Brody Medal for outstanding Jewish literature, the Zora Neale Hurston Award for achievement in promotion of African-American literature, the Louis Shores Award for book reviewing and other professional resource lists such as the Best Business Websites.

The reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, in the Oak Room at the Fairmont Hotel, 1717 North Akard Street and will feature delicious hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The literary winners announced at this event will shape the author lineup for the Literary Tastes author program at ALA’s 2012 Annual Conference in Anaheim.

More information about the award winners and the Literary Tastes author event will be available at www.literarytastes.com following the awards event.
