LLAMA Webinar: Evidence-based Advocacy at National, State and Local Levels
CHICAGO — Every librarian knows that public policies at the national, state and local level can have a huge impact on how resources are allocated to their library. However, many librarians have not been trained or encouraged to engage in advocacy at those levels. The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present “Evidence-based Advocacy at the National, State and Local Levels,” at 1:30 – 3 p.m. (Central time) on Wednesday, June 7. Join us to discover how evidence-based advocacy can help your library and how it can be applied on a national, state and local level for all types of libraries.
By the end of this webinar, participants will:
-Understand the process of policy making and how advocacy can influence that process.
-Be able to articulate a strategy for gathering and communicating evidence to decision makers.
-Identify national standards, statistics, and scholarship that contextualize local information.
-Understand the importance of data collecting and reporting as they relate to library advocacy
-Discover ongoing activities for data collection and reporting to reflect the 21st Century library
-Learn to articulate two strategies for collecting and reporting data
This webinar will help participants increase their competency in evidence-based decision making, one of LLAMA’s 14 foundational leadership competencies.
