Do more with less at YALSA’s Oct. 21 passive programs webinar

CHICAGO — Shrinking budgets and staff reductions create a number of challenges for librarians, not least of which is offering engaging programs with less staff and money. School and public librarians can learn how to stretch their resources through passive programming in YALSA’s October webinar, Do More with Less: Passive Programs, hosted by Gregory Lum and Sarah Ludwig. The webinar will take place at 2 p.m. EST Oct. 21. Registration is now open at www.ala.org/yalsa/webinars.

Lum, library director at Jesuit High School in Portland, Ore., and Ludwig, past head of teen and technology services at Darien (Conn.) Public Library and current academic technology coordinator at Hamden Hall Country Day School, will discuss budget-friendly passive programming. By the end of the hour-long, interactive session, participants will learn how to plan, design and implement passive programs for their library and ways to make passive programs into low-cost active programs.
Webinars cost $39 for individual YALSA members and $49 for all other individuals. Registration is open at www.ala.org/yalsa/webinars. YALSA also offers a group rate of $195, available by contacting Eve Gaus, YALSA’s program officer for continuing education, at egaus@ala.org or 1 (800) 545-2433, ext. 5293.
