Emerging Leaders poster session scheduled for Friday during ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

CHICAGO - The American Library Association’s (ALA) 2010 class of Emerging Leaders (EL) will showcase their final projects at a poster session and reception on Friday, June 25 during the ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. The event will take place from 3-5 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center – Rm 201. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The poster session will conclude the activities for this class of Emerging Leaders. Since the ALA Midwinter Meeting, the groups have been working virtually on projects related to ALA or a professional concern. These groups have been supported by ALA staff and member mentors from the profession. The poster session will allow each group to showcase its creative and innovative solutions for their projects.

Participants in the EL ’10 class come from all across the United States and represent a variety of types of libraries. An ALA division, round table, chapter or an ALA affiliate organization sponsored approximately one-third of the participating Emerging Leaders. For more details on the program, visit the Emerging Leaders web page at: www.ala.org/ala/educationcareers/leadership/emergingleaders/index.cfm.

The Emerging Leaders program began as one of ALA Past-President Leslie Burger’s six initiatives. ALA has committed to making this program available annually for young and/or new librarians.
