2005 Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship winner named
CHICAGO - Robin White of Bloomington, Ind. is the winner of the American Library Association (ALA) 2005 Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship.
The $5,000 scholarship was established by a donation from Hoy's family and the Exhibits Round Table. The scholarship is awarded to persons pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies. Hoy was the director of ALA Conference Services for more than 20 years.
White says she is interested in both the social and technological aspects of librarianship. Her goal is to provide more innovative electronic resources to information users. She feels that it is not enough to merely provide access to resources. It also is important for librarians to improve on trends. White intends to become a librarian who will contribute to automation projects with a “personal, value-added” touch.
White attends Indiana University (Bloomington).
