Our work depends on the contributions of our members, and we hope you will volunteer your time and talents with us. We know you're busy, so want to provide volunteer opportunities that are meaningful, and that fit your interests and schedule. Opportunities are posted throughout the year, so please check back often. From this page you can see all the committees working in LLAMA and our Communities of Practice. Please note in order to volunteer you must be a current member of LLAMA. Questions? Contact LLAMA please contact LLAMA Executive Director Kerry Ward at 800-545-2433, ext. 5036, or kward@ala.org.

Committees

Traditional committee work, generally for two-year terms. Standing committees generally work on awards, conference programs or other ongoing/longer term projects.  Every Community of Practice has committees and welcomes new members.

Project Teams

Opportunities to explore a specific topic or implement a specific project, generally over 6-18 months. These teams are less formal than a committee, can self-form, and members may come and go over the life of the project. Volunteer for one of our current project teams, or a new one:

Innovation Incubator Project Team
This team will explore the development of a group and programming for LLAMA that will help managers and administrators foster a systemic culture of innovation within their institutions. We will first conduct a needs assessment to find out what issues are most pressing for members both in terms of delivery format as well as topics of interest. Finally, we will identify any funding needs that may be associated with these activities.

Project Management Project Team
This team will conduct an environmental scan of project management practices in libraries to identify the gaps and needs and to provide recommendations for creation of a LLAMA community/group dedicated to facilitation, education, and promotion of the project management discipline.

Microprojects

Short term opportunities, generally 1-90 days, to assist with a specific task.
