How can you ensure your collection is inclusive for all, even if your institution isn’t focused on or supportive of DEIB? Let’s look at how all libraries (with a special focus on school libraries) can create inclusive collections representative of all students and people, even when the institutions themselves might not be the most inclusive. We’ll talk about ways to create policies, teach challenging topics or books, create displays, and handle questions. This session is open to librarians of all types!

Presenter:

Cherie Yanek Librarian works at Mid-Pacific Institute. Cherie Yanek has worked as a librarian at K-12 schools, colleges, and DEI-focused nonprofits. She has a passion for libraries, books, literacy, and DEI. While she is from NYC, she currently lives on O‘ahu where she runs a lot and reads a lot.
