The Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS) leadership will look at how COVID-19 has affected library outreach programs as libraries continue to provide outreach services in a COVID-19 world, offering plans on implementing new innovative programs to meet the public need.

The webinar will cover pre-COVID-19 library outreach practices then discuss how outreach is evolving and changing to continue offering library services in today’s world. What works, what new changes might here to stay, the challenges and how the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services can help.

All registrants will receive a copy of the recording 7 days after the webinar.

Presenters

Cathy Zimmerman has been with the Scott County Library System in the position of Bookmobile Associate for the past 14 years. Her duties include all those associated with the maintenance of a 3-week rotating bookmobile schedule in 8 schools, 2 daycare/early learning centers and rural Iowa neighborhoods. In addition, she provides programming services for 2 local senior living facilities. Programs include armchair travel, reminisce programs, reader services and book discussions for independent living and memory exercises and activities in Memory Care. Currently, she is President of the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services. She serves as the chair for the 2020 Conference Planning Committee, chairs the Vendor Committee and also serves on the BOIR Committee. Cathy is a 2020 John Philip Award winner - ABOS highest honor. Cathy has presented programs at ALA Annual conferences. She has done numerous programs for ABOS conferences and local organizations.

Susan Parkins started her library career at Laramie County Library over 31 years ago working at the circulation desk, moving on to storyteller/programmer in the children’s division then moved to her current position in outreach services in 2001. She is responsible for the bookmobile and homebound services. She a founding member of the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS), which was officially organized 15 years ago, a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Outreach Interest Group (RMOIG), and a 30-year member of Wyoming State Library Association (WLA). She has served on many ABOS committees, was a Board Member-at-Large, Vice President, President and currently the Immediate Past President. Susan has presented numerous programs and webinars for ABOS and WLA conferences as well as community organizations.
