In this workshop, librarian and literacy activism expert Janet Damon shows you how you can use storytime programs to help facilitate an anti-racist environment in your community. You will learn how to share and discuss stories that help parents and children talk about race, identity, and belonging in age-appropriate ways. You’ll also explore authentic examples of programming and learn ways to begin your own anti-racist and anti-biased storytimes for children and families.
By participating in this event, participants will:
- Learn ways to design and promote anti-racist/anti-biased storytime events
- Connect activities with stories that help families and children talk about race, identity, and belonging
- Explore authentic examples of programming and get ideas for beginning their own journey
