Composition

The committee typically consists of approximately 10 members, appointed from the membership. There will be a Chair and Vice-Chair, who is appointed in their first year. Committee members serve 2-year, staggered terms.

Deliverables

  • Maintains Core's websites
  • Builds new sites as requested in the appropriate platform as determined by the committee
  • Maintains the interface, navigation, and member editor access to Core's LibGuides installations
  • Recommendations for improving Core's web properties and services
  • Acts as a manager for access to Core’s sandboxes; maintains documentation for access to the sandboxes
  • Provide accessibility audits on Core’s website, Connect space, conference websites, future LibGuides installation, blogs, or other platforms within Core’s web presence
  • Audits should align with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (Level AA)
  • Create and maintain open best practices documentation for accessibility and usability for platforms used by Core
  • Provide accessibility evaluations of technology and tools prior to adoption by Core/ALA

Expected Time Commitment

  • Holds 12-24 virtual meetings meetings each year
  • An additional 2-8 hours per month on average working asynchronously on projects
  • Two-year commitment

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience building websites in WordPress, especially in WP theme manipulation;
  • Content management and other web systems, especially
    • CSS & HTML
    • WordPress
    • Drupal
    • LibGuides
    • Google Analytics, Matomo, or other analytics tools
  • Web design / web development
  • UX and user experience testing
  • Digital accessibility standards (WCAG, 508, ATAG, ARIA, EPUB), accessible design best practices, accessibility tools for testing of online platforms
  • Social media platforms
