Federated Authentication Committee

Charge

Providing online access to licensed scholarly content with optimized user experience and privacy protection is a major service of libraries. This committee will provide a venue for the library community to be partners in the new evolving federated authentication landscape. It will focus on activities listed below in its initial period, and can redefine their charge after that point:

  1. Recruit people with interest and expertise in federated authentication to initiate a community of practice;
  2. Establish a roadmap for knowledge/skills development for librarians;
    1. Collaborate with the Continuing Education Coordination Committee to host a series of structured webinars to educate the library community on federated authentication and implications for libraries;
  3. Manage details of the relationship with Seamless Access;
    1. Recommend an official representative to the Seamless Access Governance Committee;
  4. Provide regular updates to the Core membership on Seamless Access developments regarding patron privacy, equity of access, and other topics of interest.
