About this Committee


  • Consult with the LibGuide Project Team to improve accessibility and usability of the Core LibGuides
  • Create Core accessibility best practices documentation for LibGuides Create and maintain documentation on testing procedures used to evaluate the various Core platforms
  • Develop a template to provide consistent, understandable and actionable web accessibility evaluations 
  • Provide accessibility audits on Core’s website, Connect space, conference websites, future LibGuides installation, blogs, or other platforms within Core’s web presence
  • Audits should align with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (Level A and AA) 
  • Create and maintain open best practices documentation for accessibility and usability for platforms used by Core
  • Provide accessibility evaluations of technology and tools prior to adoption by Core/ALA

Expected Time Commitment

  • Regular meetings (~12 hours/year)
  • An additional 2-8 hours per month on average to perform testing and drafting of web accessibility recommendations for Core platform owners
  • A two-year commitment, except for the inaugural year where half the volunteers will be asked for a 1 year commitment

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Understanding and/or desire to learn more about digital accessibility standards (WCAG, 508, ATAG, ARIA, EPUB) and accessible design best practices
  • Experience with and/or desire to learn web design, web development
  • Experience with and/or desire to learn more about LibGuides, content management systems, and/or social media platforms
