Deliverables

  • Proposed amendments and technical edits to the bylaws
  • Proposed changes to the organizational structure
  • Summary report of division committee reports, including any recommended actions
  • Decisions, guidance, and consultations on proposed revisions to committee charges
  • Additions and updates to the Core Handbook

Ongoing Work

  • Review bylaws annually for potential amendments
  • Review proposed modifications to committee charges
  • Review division committee reports
  • Identify and develop content for the Core Handbook
  • Develop and/or document division procedures, guidelines, and best practices
  • Maintain an inventory of liaison roles within and beyond Core
  • Require Core liaisons across ALA to give a report to the Board regularly
  • Advise on procedural questions as they arise

Expected Time Commitment

  • Monthly, 1-hour virtual meetings
  • Light work between meetings to review documents and consider issues
  • Infrequent asynchronous discussions to advise on urgent issues

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Interest in organizational structures ("organizational development")
  • Writing or editing experience
  • Familiarity and/or interest in researching parliamentary procedure and best practices
