Charge
Maintain the historical records of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards. We collaborate with the various Committee Chairs of the CSKBART Executive Board, the ODLOS Office, and the ALA Archivist. Below is a sampling of Coretta Scott King Book Awards material archived by the Archives and History Committee.
1. The official history of the CSK Book Awards with updated milestones posted to our webpage.
2. All historical records: winning titles, historical publications, programs, discussion guides, minutes, acceptance speeches, photos, anniversary activities and various artifacts.
3. We also archive the stories of the CSK Award through our “Ongoing Oral History Project” via video interviews with winning authors and illustrators and CSK Book Award history makers.
The Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table Oral Histories
The Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table (CSKBART) Oral History Project celebrates and preserves the voices of those who have shaped and sustained the CSK Book Awards. Through interviews, this project captures the legacy, impact, and evolution of the awards in promoting African American literature and honoring outstanding Black authors and illustrators.
