Winner Description:
illustrated by Feodor Rojankovsky, retold by John Langstaff, and published by Harcourt
Winner Blurb:

Rojankovsky's gay and colorful illustrations for Frog Went A-courtin' provide a perfect setting for a story song that is more than four-hundred years old.  The song was brought to America from Scotland and is known in many other countries, as well as in our own.  John Langstaff, a well-known singer, has made one story out of several versions of the song and set it to one of the earliest known tunes.  Rojankovsky's pictures give individuality to the small animals in the story.
