Award and Frequency
The grant will be awarded to an individual to provide monetary support to participate in continuing education event(s) to keep current in their career field. The grant monies will be available for twelve months from date it is awarded at which time any un-used monies will be forfeited.
Applicant Responsibility
The grant will be in the amount of $1,000 and is designed to be awarded to an individual to participate in a professional development conference or event related to their work in the field of libraries. The grant may be used to participate in continuing professional development event(s) offered by the American Library Association, an ALA-related unit or association, State Library Associations, ASTD, the American Management Association or other organization/vendor as approved by the Board. If the event is less than $1,000 the remainder of the grant can be applied to another event as long as it meets the above stated criteria.
Funds can be used to cover registration, travel, lodging or other expenses related to the event. Documentation/receipts will be required prior to payment. If the recipient is participating in an ALA event, monies will be transferred internally instead of being paid to the recipient. Recipient must be a member of the sponsoring organization hosting the conference/event if the registration fee is higher for non-members.
Application Instructions
Each applicant must submit a completed online application form by February 15, 2020. The applications will be forwarded to the LearnRT Secretary who will compile the files and forward them to the remaining board members for consideration. Selection of the grant recipient will take place in the spring and the winner will be notified shortly thereafter via e-mail and/or the U.S. Postal Service.

Selection Criteria
The grant will be awarded to an individual on an annual basis to provide monetary support (up to $1,000) to participate in continuing educational event(s) to keep current in his/her career field. Monies may be used to participate in continuing professional development event(s) offered by the American Library Association (ALA), an ALA-related unit or association, State Library Associations, ASTD, the American Management Association (AMA), or any other Learn RT Board approved activity/event. The ALA Learning Round Table (LearnRT) will award up to $1,000 to an individual to attend a professional development event between Sept. 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021. Grant funds can be used to cover registration, travel, lodging, or other expenses related to the event. Documentation/receipts will be required prior to payment. If the recipient is participating in a ALA or ALA-related event, monies will be transferred internally instead of being paid to the recipient. Recipient must be an active member of the sponsoring organization hosting the conference/event if the registration fee is higher for non-members. Any un-used grant monies can be applied to other events as long as it meets the above criteria - funds un-used funds at the end of the award period will be forfeited.

Selection of the grant recipient will take place at the Midwinter Meeting and the recipient will be notified shortly thereafter via e-mail and/or the U.S. Postal Service
