About the NewsBank/Readex Catharine J. Reynolds Award
The NewBank/Readex Catharine J. Reynolds Award provides funding for research in the field of documents librarianship, or in a related area that would benefit the individual's performance as a documents librarian or make a contribution to the field. This award, established in 1987, is named for Catharine J. Reynolds, former Head of Government Publications at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Award and Frequency

Monetary grants are made to recipients from the total annual award of $2,000 donated by NewsBank, Inc. As a guideline, generally 1 to 3 grants have been awarded yearly. The Awards Committee may designate the amount of each grant at its discretion.
This award is given out on an annual basis.

Eligibility

All Documents Librarians are eligible for the grant.

Applicant Responsibility

If you receive a grant, you must prepare a brief report on the results of the grant project for the ALA/GODORT Awards Committee.  This report is to be sent to the Chair of the ALA/GODORT Awards Committee prior to the ALA Midwinter meeting following the receipt of the award.  Also, if you receive a grant, and cannot use the grant for any reason, you are expected to return the grant money to the Chair of the ALA/GODORT Awards Committee.

Selection Criteria

Recipients are selected by the GODORT Awards Committee on the basis of proven or potential ability, promise of future usefulness and permanence in the profession, financial need, and benefit of the project to the profession as well as the individual. Preference may be given to GODORT members.

Notification

Award recipient(s) will be announced as soon as all recipients have been informed following the ALA Midwinter meeting. Awards will be presented at the GODORT Reception at the ALA Annual Conference.
