Standing Committee Chair Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in serving as a Standing Committee Chair for the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table (CSKBART). Our committee chairs play a vital role in advancing the mission of the Round Table by leading committees, supporting member engagement, and helping to recognize and celebrate excellence in African American children's and young adult literature.
Standing Committee Chair appointments are two-year terms. Committee Chairs are expected to actively lead their committees, collaborate with the Executive Board, and support the ongoing work of CSKBART.
Applicants should be able to:
- Attend the monthly CSKBART Executive Committee meetings (virtually).
- Participate in the ALA Annual Conference and other meetings as needed.
- Work collaboratively with committee members and the Executive Board to achieve committee goals.
Standing Committee Chair Opportunities:
Anniversary Committee Chair
Lead the planning and coordination of milestone anniversaries and special celebrations that recognize the history, legacy, and accomplishments of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards. Work with committee members to develop anniversary celebrations.
Book Grant Committee Chair
Coordinate the administration of the CSKBART Book Grant Program, including overseeing the application and review process, facilitating committee discussions, and recommending grant recipients to the Executive Committee.
Public Relations (PR) Committee Chair
Promote the work and initiatives of CSKBART through strategic communications. Coordinate publicity for programs, awards, and initiatives by working with ALA communications staff, committee chairs, and the Technology Committee to increase awareness of CSKBART.
Technology Committee Chair
Oversee CSKBART's digital tools and online presence by working with ALA staff, committee chairs, and the Chair. Work with Committee members to develop a strong online presence.
