CHICAGO — The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is announcing two more 75th Caldecott Facebook Forums. In January, ALSC will host Melissa Sweet, and in February, Laura Vaccaro Seeger will be the guest.
Melissa Sweet will take part in the 75th Caldecott Facebook Forum at 11 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. Sweet won a Caldecott Honor in 2009 for her illustrations in the book "A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams," written by Jen Bryant.
CHICAGO —The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is inviting librarians to register their 2013 El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) programs in the 2013 National Día Program Registry.

CHICAGO — In November, three-time Caldecott Medal-winning author David Wiesner will participate in a Facebook Forum hosted by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC).
As part of the Forum, ALSC will interview Wiesner about his Caldecott award-winning books and take questions from participants. This event is open to the public. The Facebook Forum will take place at 11 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 on the ALSC Facebook page.
CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) announced Edward McCoy of the Oakland Public Library as its representative in the 2013 Emerging Leader program. McCoy is currently a library assistant at the Oakland Public Library and a candidate for Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) at San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif.
CHICAGO —The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association, has added more outstanding websites to Great Websites for Kids, its online resource containing hundreds of links to exceptional websites for children.

CHICAGO — The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded a Youth Literacy grant in the amount of $226,876 to the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).
ALSC and YALSA will use the grant to support three important initiatives, El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), Teen Read Week™ and summer reading for teens.
